— Police responded to Walnut Street at 12:48 p.m. Saturday for a child welfare check. The caller had called the police because her daughter, the children’s mother, had reportedly left the night before and had not returned to take care of her children, but the mother soon entered the room, saying that her boyfriend had taken her car the night before and she had stayed home, not hearing her phone ring until soon before the police arrived. Both women were informed of the severity of leaving children unattended or neglected and advised to communicate better in the future.

— Officers were dispatched to state Route 344 near Main Street at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday for report of a smoking car on the roadside. Upon arrival, they spoke to the driver, who stated the motor had blown up, and that the smoke was from the motor blowing up, not a fire. He stated that he would call a towing service and was given a courtesy ride to Circle K where he and his wife waited to be picked up.

— At 6:28 p.m. Saturday, a Leetonia officer and a Columbiana police unit were dispatched to High Street for a domestic matter. Upon arrival, they spoke with the caller, who said that a resident of the home had threatened them after they asked him to leave. The resident was observed to be very intoxicated and loud, and was temporarily detained.

— An officer was called to Elm Street at 9:23 a.m. Tuesday about a sick raccoon. Upon arrival, it appeared that the raccoon had wandered off and could not be found.

— Police responded to the parking of Family Dollar on Main Street at 9:55 a.m. July 1, along with three Leetonia fire EMS crew. Upon arrival, they discovered that a customer had passed out while backing out of a parking space, and their car had drifted into another vehicle. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and were driven from the scene, and the driver was transported to Salem ER by Leetonia EMS.

— Jamie L. Thomas, 48, Leslie Road, Lisbon, was cited for driving the wrong way on a one-way street after doing so at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday. She was also found to have a warrant from Minerva Police for failure to appear for a traffic charge and was given 72 hours to take care of it.

— Officers responded to a business on the 400 block of South Lundy Avenue at 11:20 a.m. Thursday for reports of graffiti. Upon arrival the caller informed them four juveniles were observed on camera spray painting obscenities on the side of the business. The officer was familiar with the juveniles and responded to a South Lundy residence where all four juveniles were located, and wearing the same clothes seen in the store’s video. All four were taken into custody for criminal damaging, and transported to the police department where they were processed and released to a legal guardian.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Jennings Avenue at 11:09 a.m. Thursday for a domestic dispute. A verbal altercation had occurred between two family members but there was no physical altercation. Both parties were separated and went their own ways.

— An officer responded to a residence in the 200 block of West Sixteenth Street at 8:53 a.m. Thursday to deliver a message for the Boardman Police. Officers attempted contact unsuccessfully, and a note was left on the door.

— Officers received a theft report at the police station at 7:15 a.m. Thursday. The individual claimed a duffel bag left outside a convenience store was taken. No physical evidence or video footage could be obtained for a possible suspect.

— Officers responded to the area of East Third and North Lincoln at 10:29 p.m. Wednesday for a possibly intoxicated individual. Upon arrival officers found the subject needed medical attention. KLG responded, transporting the individual to Salem Regional Medical Center for treatment.

— Officers received a complaint from a residence in the 500 block of South Lundy Avenue at 8:32 p.m. Wednesday of a bike in their yard. Salem Fire Department recovered the bike and transported it back to the station.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of North Lincoln Avenue at 8:24 p.m. Wednesday for a subject with an active warrant. Officers confirmed the warrant and Tammy Jane Souers was taken into custody. A search during the arrest located contraband in Souers’ purse and backpack. Souers was transported to Columbiana County jail.

— Officers spoke by phone to a North Ellsworth Avenue woman at 7:21 p.m. Wednesday in relation to a scam. The woman thought she had been speaking to a member of her bank, and when she hung up the phone, she noticed she was locked out of her online banking. The woman contacted her bank, who informed her she had been scammed out of approximately $500, and locked down her account, and she needed a report on file with the police.

— Officers responded to the area of North Broadway and East Fourth at 6:19 p.m. Wednesday for reports of an irate man walking in the roadway yelling. Officers made contact with the man in the 300 block of East Fourth Street. Officers advised the man to stay in his residence for the rest of the evening, and that he would be charged with disorderly conduct if found in the roadway again.

— Officers received a complaint from a residence in the 1300 block of East State Street at 5:59 p.m. Wednesday of a bike in their yard. Salem Fire Department recovered the bike and transported it back to the station.

— Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of Ohio Avenue at 5:19 p.m. Wednesday for a wellness check on a juvenile. Upon arrival officers confirmed the juvenile was fine but not currently home.

— Officers took a report at the police station at 5:11 p.m. Wednesday of unknown people from an unknown number calling and harassing a resident for money. Officers called the number leaving a message instructing whoever it was to stop. Officers instructed the man to contact them if there were further issues.

–Officers responded to the 900 block of East Fifth Street at 4:09 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a suspicious man looking into cars. Officers located the man, who denied looking into vehicles, and said he was just picking up trash from the sidewalk.

— Officers took a theft report on Continental Drive at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday. The complainant said he knew the person who took the item. The matter is under investigation.

— Officers responded to the 100 block of Washington Avenue at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a suspicious item in a blue container. Officers located the container finding the contents to be a Cross Man pellet gun. The pellet gun was taken back to the station for safekeeping.

–Officers responded to an apartment on the 1700 block of Harding Avenue at 9:45 a.m. June 29 for an assault. Officers spoke to both men. The caller claimed his neighbor had pushed him to the ground after he had banged on his door to confront him about playing his music too loudly. The neighbor claimed that when he answered the door the caller slammed the screen door onto him and took a fighting stance, and he had pushed the caller to get him away from him, and he had fallen in the process. The caller claimed his shoulder had been injured and had scrapes on his arm, and was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center. Officers advised that due to their stories conflicting statements would be collected and sent to the prosecutors office.

–Officers responded to the 300 block of West Fourteenth Street at 8:54 a.m. Thursday for an ongoing neighbor complaint. The resident claimed his neighbor had been revving his engine and going up and down the street. Officers were shown a video of the neighbor backing out and driving away with no undue noise.

–Officers responded with the Perry Township Fire Department to reports of a roadside fire on Depot Road at 1:13 p.m. Thursday. Officers found the fire to be already out and outside of Perry Township.

–An officer responded to the intersection of state Route 45, and Georgetown Road at 4:45 p.m. Thursday for a car accident. While attempting to make a left turn from Georgetown Road onto state Route 45, driver one failed to yield right of way, and was struck by driver two. Sinsley Towing removed the vehicle, and all parties refused treatment. Driver one was cited with failure to yield the right of way.

–An officer responded to the intersection of U.S. Route 62, and Benton road at 5:27 p.m. Thursday for a car accident when a Warren man struck the car in front of them. The driver was cited for assured clear distance, and expired registration.

–An officer responded to the 1800 block of Egypt Road to assist Perry Township Fire Department, and KLG on a medical call. Officers stood by until no longer needed.

–Officers responded to the 1800 block of Newgarden Avenue at 12:20 a.m. Friday for a noise complaint. Officers spoke to a man about the complaint and he turned down the music.

–Police received a tip for a possible drug deal occurring on the 1800 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 12:37 a.m. Friday. Officers investigated and forwarded any and all findings to the county drug task force.

–Officers assisted the Salem Police Department at the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard at 3:40 a.m. Friday with a domestic in progress. Officers stood by until no longer needed. Salem Police arrested one man on charges of domestic violence.

–Officers responded to the intersection of U.S. Route 62, and North Lincoln Avenue at 8:44 a.m. Friday for a car accident. A Mechanicstown woman failed to stop at the stop sign and struck another vehicle. The woman was cited for failure to yield stop sign, and one person was transported to Salem Regional Medical Center.

–Officers responded to a business on the 1100 block of East State Street at 5:50 p.m. Friday for a disabled vehicle. Officers found a vehicle with a flat tire in the parking lot and changed the tire for the driver.

–Officers responded to Painter Road at 9:14 p.m. Friday to assist Perry Township Fire Department with a fallen tree blocking the roadway. The road was cleared of debris.

–Officers responded to the 1000 block of Southridge Drive at 6:20 a.m. Saturday for reports of trespassing. The resident claimed they had woken up to a man on their property. Officers spoke with the man later who explained he lived nearby and had just wanted to watch the sunrise. Officers escorted the man home and the resident didn’t wish to press charges.

–Officers responded to the 2000 block of Countryside Drive at 8:53 a.m. Saturday for reports of a bicycle found in a backyard. The resident claimed they had found a bike in their yard, and believed they knew who the owner was. Officers took the bike back to the police station for safekeeping.

–Officers spoke to a West Fourteenth Street resident by phone at 6:50 p.m. Saturday with questions about fireworks laws. Officers informed the caller of the laws.

–Officers spoke to a Allen Road resident at 6:53 p.m. Saturday by phone with questions about fireworks laws. Officers informed the caller of the laws.

–Officers responded to the 1200 block of Pembrooke Drive at 8:09 p.m. Saturday to assist Perry Township Fire Department and KLG Ambulance with a medical call. Officers stood by as the patient was transported from the residence.

–Officers responded to the 500 block of Walnut Street at 5:32 a.m. Saturday to assist the Salem Police Department for one to be removed. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

–Officers responded to the 100 block of West Fourth Street at 11:48 p.m. to assist the Salem Police Department with an incident involving a machete. Officers assisted until no longer needed.

–Police responded to the 1000 block of Georgetown Road at 4:45 a.m. Sunday for a potential breaking and entering. The resident complained that while sitting outside he’d seen four people on his property near his garage, seen a light moving in the distance, and heard the same voices in the distance. Officers did a walk through of the garage with the resident and found everything in place and seemingly undisturbed. Police checked the area for anyone possibly walking but found nobody.

–Officers spoke by phone to a Prospect Road woman at 6:01 p.m. Sunday regarding child custody. Officers discussed the matter and advised her of her options.

–Officers responded to the four lane in the area of state Route 14 at 6:15 p.m. Sunday for reports of a dog possibly being dropped off on the side of the road. Officers checked the area but found no animals.

–Officers responded to the 1700 block of New Garden Avenue at 7:21 p.m. for reports of a suspicious man walking down the road. Officers spoke to the man who said he was trying to walk to Leetonia. Officers believed the man to be having a medical issue and requested emergency medical service. KLG Ambulance responded and transported the man the Salem Regional Medical Facility.

–Officers responded to a resident on the 400 block of Maryland Avenue at 10:26 p.m. Sunday for a domestic complaint. The man had accidentally locked the woman out of the house, and due to level of intoxication 911 had been called and then hung up on. Officers spoke to both parties who said there had been no physical altercation and there had just been a misunderstanding.

–Officers responded to a residence on the 1000 block of Georgetown Road for complaints of a tree waving around and possibly uprooting. Upon arrival officers looked at the trees, finding all fine with no uprooting.
